Designed by John Frank, this plate portrays the wise men presenting their gifts of frankincense, gold, and myrrh to the Babe who would be called Jesus.
Frankoma Pottery began in 1933. Using the terra cotta clay from their own Sugar Loaf Clay Mine, they handcraft and hand trim each piece before it goes through the kiln. The piece is then individually glazed with a Frankoma color glaze. Most pieces are then brushed off in some areas to allow the beauty of the terra cotta color to show through.
You can feel the difference when you touch a piece of Frankoma Pottery. It's not only beautiful but it demonstrates the hand crafting that has been a Frankoma tradition since the pottery opened.
This beautiful plate measures approximately 8 1/4" across. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing. Each of the plates have a built in plate hanger where a ribbon can be attached. It is signed on the back by John Frank.
Frankoma began offering the annual plates in 1965.
